It is my distinct honor to welcome you to the official website of the Texas Military Forces Historical Foundation. We are grateful for your interest in the remarkable heritage of the military forces of the State of Texas and in the work we undertake to preserve that legacy for future generations.
The Texas Military Forces Historical Foundation is the nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational and fundraising organization that supports the development of the Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. In this capacity, the Foundation is entrusted with a solemn mission: to provide financial support for the construction and continued enhancement of the Museum; to acquire, preserve, and maintain historic artifacts, equipment, and weapons; to develop, expand, and refine the Museum’s exhibits; and to sustain a broad range of educational and living history programs. These efforts ensure that the story of the Texas Military Forces is presented with accuracy, dignity, and depth.
This story is both vast and distinguished. It spans the era of the Texas Revolution and the service of the Texas Navy; the formative years of the Texas Republic; the Mexican War; the battles along the Indian Frontier; and the struggle of the War Between the States. It continues through the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, peacekeeping deployments, and the Global War on Terror. Across these many chapters, Texas service members have demonstrated valor, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to duty.
Through our stewardship, the Foundation endeavors to honor these men and women by safeguarding their history and ensuring that their stories remain accessible to all who seek to understand the strength and character of Texas military service.
